A bit of a modern day renaissance man, Dan Merlo tried everything in the arts--drawing, painting, writing, acting, dance, directing, radio host, music, even text book illustration--before making photography his profession. He found photography was the quickest and most effective way to manifest his ideas.
Having a natural affinity for the arts, Dan's favorite thing to photograph is other artists. But he connects easily to people from all backgrounds which allows him to bring out the humanity of the people he works with in the corporate world just as well.
Dan has an authentic empathic connection to other people which puts them at ease and allows him capture their essence at a soul level. The portraits are authentic representations of his subjects at their best.
His interests and hobbies are many, but you may witness him playing trombone with a rogue marching band or playing jazz in a dive bar.
